Level-up Your Customer Engagement

Do you want to harness the power of games to create more engaging, compelling products and services? This dynamic, hands-on workshop will introduce you to the tools and techniques of Smart Gamification - AKA Applied Game Design. We'll reveal the process and techniques behind gaming's biggest hits, and equip you with powertools for injecting smart game design into your products, apps and services. You’ll learn key insights from gaming psychology, and best practices from games like The Sims, Rock Band, Farmville, and Frontierville.

7 Core Concepts for Applying Game Design

This workshop is organized around our SmartGames Framework - a blueprint for applying game design to create more engaging products and services.

  1. Know who’s playing – design for their social style
  2. Build positive emotions into your core activity loop
  3. Design for 3 key stages of your player lifecycle
  4. Build a system that’s easy to learn and hard to master
  5. Use progress mechanics to light the way towards learning and mastery
  6. As players progress, increase the challenge and complexity
  7. Embrace intrinsic motivators like power, autonomy and belonging

We'll guide you through the concepts, using case studies to illustrate each idea - and show you how to apply this framework to your own project.
